Bert asked:
in the last 12 months I have been working on changing to a more healthy diet and exercise plan. I have lost 15 pounds and need to lose another 50. I’m trying to change from quick fix diet plans like Nutrisystems to just eating more healthy. (lost 40 lbs with Nutrisystems prior to a bout with prostate cancer, gained it and 20 extra when I stopped and started cancer treatment) I have lost the 15 lbs by just cutting down on what I eat and eating fruit when I get that snacking urge. (getting off my cancer medicine has helped also) I also started walking more and using the stairs at work(work on third floor
I am now in the state of mind to really make the effort to get this remaining 50 lbs off. I am exercising much more and I think finally eating right. I have also been reading, to the point of confusion, on vitamins and supplements to give me the energy and focus for my journey.
My question relates to the fact that there are literally 100′s of supplements, and the more I read, the more confused I get, on what I should add to my plan. What is a good basic set of vitamins and supplements, I should be taking?
I am 60 years old, 50 lbs over weight, taking a minimum dose of lisinopril for moderately high blood pressure. Had radiation seed implants for prostate cancer 1 year ago and suffer from GIRD (controlled with Prilosec) I am looking at Resveratrol and Rhodiola to help with blood pressure and energy and reduce stress levels. Not sure if an all inclusive (1 a day) type vitamin or what other supplements/vitamins to consider.
everything I read seems to be pushing whatever they happen to be selling, so I thought asking here and getting answers from “been there done that” experience might help.
Thanks for your time to answer.
